Meet Our Team
Neil Macdonald
Chief Executive Officer
As a seasoned senior executive, my expertise lies in strategizing, driving business transformation, and fostering teams that excel. I hold a Master of Commerce from UNSW, with advanced standing in organization and management, alongside diplomas in Banking and Finance, and Financial Planning. I have lifetime membership with the Chartered Institute of Bankers in the UK. My financial services experience is diverse, spanning senior executive, program director and consultant roles. As an entrepreneur, I independently steered two companies to success and eventual sale. My career is marked by engagements with entities in Australia and the UK navigating through substantial and swift changes, including names like AMP, Asgard, ANZ, BankWest, BT, ING, Lloyds Bank, Trade Indemnity, TAL, Tyndall, and Westpac. Beyond work, I enjoy time with family and friends, exploring new destinations, indulging in fine dining and wines, and sailing.
Michelle Grant
Executive Assistant
In my role as Executive Assistant I support CEO, Neil Macdonald and the Board of Directors. This includes being point of contact for Neil and the board, organising, attending and minuting board meetings and helping organise/ liaising with various working and consultancy groups. I have worked at the association for over 5 years, starting in 2015. My role is varied and ever changing, which I enjoy. Every 1-2 years we see new members join the board which provides the opportunity to learn from and get to know new directors. I work with a great team and no two days are ever the same! Outside of work I love the beach, reading, playing piano and spending time with friends and family.
Geoff Wilson
Technical Manager
I spent 26 years as an agent / adviser / financial planner with AMP / AMPFP before exercising BoLR and retiring at the end of 2015. During that time I completed tertiary studies - MComm(FinPlan) & MAppLaw - as well as holding the Certified Financial Planner designation for 16 years. I was an active member of TAA’s predecessor associations, ABOM and ampfpa, serving on Sub-committees in 2000-01; the federal Board in 2002-04; and Consultancy Groups in 2005-06. My role of Technical Manager involves the delivery of technical and business advice, project management and research. I am the primary point of contact for members with questions or complaints about their relationship with their licensee and the AMP Group. When I’m not working, my two great passions are music and travel. I’ve managed to combine those pursuits, having performed in most Australian states, as well as Canada, Sweden, The Philippines, England, Scotland and Ireland.
Sara Gannon
Member Services Administrator
My role as Member Service Administrator is the first point of call for all members. I am the friendly voice that answers the phone and emails, creates cases, helps to manage member benefits, assists with events, and informs members of the association’s latest news. I work with my team to create the communications that members receive, including putting together newsletters and video updates. Having only recently joined the company, I have an extensive background in administration and customer service within a variety of industries from hospitality, travel, banking and aged care. I am a lover of homewares and interior design so if Im not at work or playing taxi driver for my kids, you will find me curled up in a sunny spot with a cuppa and a good house magazine.
